Britton, my amazing husband, was born 23 years ago on June 18, 1988. That is in America. Here in Taiwan, he is a year older and wiser. Yet he is still just as young at heart. The Taiwanese consider you one-year-old when you are born. They start counting when you are conceived. Strange right? I thought I would clear that up incase anyone was wondering why the birthday cake said “24” instead of his rightful age of “23”. I admit at first I thought it was because they ran out of 3’s at the store
Britton’s birthday was an all day event. The generous Lin Family took the four of us up to Wui Lei to their Hot Spring Resort. We went on a relaxing hike that had a ton of little waterfalls. Afterwards, we went to lunch, enjoyed the hot springs, had some birthday cake, and karaoke! It would be an understatement to say that the Taiwanese like karaoke. It is so adorable how they love to sing the worst American songs. But that’s exactly what we did. It was really fun. Afterwards we headed back to the city, went to dinner at a really good Taiwanese restaurant by the temple, and ended the night with a movie. And when I say movie, I mean American movie. I was really glad!
Happy Happy Birthday Britton. You are pretty fly. I am glad you are with me for a long long time.
